vision, visualize, triggers, future,
Welcome, everybody to Episode 48 of the Easy SEO and More podcast.
Today, I want to talk about:
3 steps to business clarity.
Getting clarity in your business is huge. In fact, the more clarity you have for your business, the more clearly you can see where you want to go, the more likely you are to get there. And that’s why business clarity is so important.
We’re rounding out 2021 right now and heading into 2022. Hopefully, things are still getting better and better for you every day. But if they’re not, it’s possibly because you’re not clear on exactly where you want your business to be.
Step 1 to business clarity is your vision.
And I literally mean vision. What do you want your business to look like in the next five years, 10 years, 12 months, whatever it might be? Yes, things happen. COVID hit us and we get shut down.
These things are temporary.
That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not going to affect your vision. And if it does affect your vision, then change your vision. But you want to have a vision for where you want your company to be.
And I would say start with a 10-year vision.
Where do you want to be in 10 years? How much money do you want to be making realistically? Don’t go too low, don’t go too high. Well, maybe go a little bit higher than you’re comfortable with. That way you can stretch yourself a bit as you’re working toward it.
Pick a number where you want to be.
• How many employees do you want?
• What kind of work do you want to be doing?
• What kind of work are you not thinking about right now that you maybe could be doing?
Three years ago, I never would have thought that I would have been doing podcasts and now I’m almost at episode 50.
So think about things where you might do something that’s going to stretch you. Maybe you don’t necessarily want to do it right now, but it’s something that could help your business.
And I’ll tell you what, doing this podcast has helped my business quite a lot. I am actually surprised at how much it helps my business and how many new contacts and new relationships that I’ve gotten because of it.
So do your vision, do your long term vision and work backwards from that, Let’s say you have a 10 year vision, what are you going to have to do within five years to be able to get that 10 year vision?
What are you going to have to do in the next 12 months, in order to get to that five-year vision? What are you going to have to do this month in order to get to that 12 month vision?
Here’s the big thing: I recommend you doing this every day, at least once a day.
Step 2: Visualize your vision as already having been done.
Visualize your business with those employees, your bank account with that amount of money in it, enjoying the things that you plan on enjoying with that money and that time.
Or maybe you’re busy and maybe you’re working eight, nine, 10 hours a day, because you’re just so excited with where your business is going and your employees. And everybody’s having a grand time but still working really hard.
Visualize that; visualize it as being done. Visualize creating an awesome product that everybody just loves. It’s flying off the shelf super fast. Not so fast that you’re completely out of stock, but fast enough that you’re constantly having to make more, because everybody just loves it.
How does it look? How does it sound? How does it feel?
Now here’s the biggest one, believe it or not: How does it smell?
How does your office or workplace smell? If you’re in a factory, how does that factory smell, even if the smell isn’t great because the process of making your product doesn’t smell great.
Our sense of smell is one of our biggest triggers; It triggers memories from our past. It triggers our hopes and triggers our fears sometimes. In fact, dogs can smell when people are afraid. That’s how they know fear in people, they smell it. They don’t see it, they smell our fear.
So what does your future smell like?
Step 3: Create a daily strategy to work toward that vision.
What are you going to do tomorrow to work toward that vision that you have? And click here if you want more information on doing your vision. In fact, you can watch webinars on creating your vision and your core values and your mission. I highly recommend that you watch them. They’re completely free and don’t cost you a penny. But it’s going to give you more of an idea on how to do your vision.
