The photobook “Oyster Boyspresents a body of photographic work dismantling the dynamics of hegemonic, white, British masculinity. Inverting the dominance of the male gaze allows showcasing a contemporary image of male sensitivity and fragility from a feminist perspective. The photobook showcasing the collected pictures narrates the feminist mediation of the dynamics between power and vulnerability. Firstly, it aims to encourage men to engage with their own roles of power and explore their vulnerability. Secondly, the book aims to educate women about masculine struggles. The publication is focusing on very intimate and vulnerable aspects of the men I met, highlighting very personal experiences, informal conversations and insights into fragile masculine identity.
