A traditional English pub in the heart of the world-famous Latin Quarter in Paris organised an anti-Brexit event on Friday offering meals from the European cuisine.
“We changed all the food to European dishes so the pie of the day for example is the Greek Moussaka, instead of Sausage and Mash, it’s a German sausage and sauerkraut… it’s all European today. Even the soup we’ve done Irish” Tom Clarke the chef of the pub said.
The chef added, “My family is Irish, even I am raised and born in England, I’m taking Irish citizenship this year because I don’t want to be, I want to stay in Europe because I work and live here and I think the benefits are a way better.”
Laura Catlin the assistant manager of the pub said “I’m still European at the heart. I think what shifted for me in this circumstance is that I was British before and European after, with everything is happening here, I would say I’m very much European now and British after.”
The UK joined the European Economic Community in 1973 and after 47 years it is the first member state to withdraw from the EU.
