Neuqua Valley girls lacrosse takes on Plainfield East in the regional semifinal where the Wildcats move on to the final. This highlight is sponsored by BMO Harris Bank.
Coming in outscoring their opponents 15-3 in their last two games, the Neuqua Valley Wildcats begin postseason play with a regional semifinal matchup against Plainfield East. Winner will take on Naperville Central.
About 10 minutes into the game, the Wildcats strike first with Brianna Clasen running down the left wing and finding Brooke Miller who slot.cx">slots one across the goal to the feet of Anna Yuccas.
Five minutes later, Miller weaves her way between a couple of defenders and finds herself in front of the net for a wide-open goal to give Neuqua Valley girls lacrosse a 2-0 lead.
Miller taking on the entire defense from Plainfield East and gets off a shot that hits the side of the post. Yuccas finds the rebound and fires in her second goal of the game.
Goals were a common occurrence during the first half. Once again, thanks to Miller’s offensive prowess, she backs into the defender and dishes the ball out to the top of the box for Grace Petrina from 20 yards out. That gives Neuqua a 4-0 lead.
Abby Michalcyzk sends one perfectly with her left foot behind the Plainfield East backline that finds Yuccas. She’s able to drive it into the back of the net for her third, but not final, goal.
Miller once again setting up the Wildcats’ offense, this time a timely mistake is made by Plainfield East’s goalkeeper. Yuccas takes advantage of the opportunity and grabs her fourth goal of the game.
Right before halftime, Miller receives the pass from Selma Larbi and takes the defender one-on-one. She fires one home for a brace and gives the Wildcats a 7-0 lead at half. They go on to score one more goal in the second to win it 8-0. They will face Naperville Central in the regional final on Friday.
