When they launched Planet IX, their goal was to onboard more non-crypto native users into Web3 through our game. With that in mind, they first needed to start in Web2 and gradually transition into Web3 by educating our users along the way. Along the way, they have faced issues with players losing their passwords, seed phrases, or having their wallets compromised.
It has been a learning experience for their team, and as they push forward they will continue to provide educational and informative content to display the power of blockchain technology and its impact on the world. The next step in becoming a fully Web3 game is replacing its traditional username and password login system with a Web3 wallet login.
Web3
As they know, Web3 is a new iteration of the World Wide Web based on blockchain technology, which incorporates concepts such as decentralization and token-based economics. All transactions and records are evident on the blockchain and there is no one central power that can modify the decentralized ledger. Therefore, the power of the blockchain offers us security and convenience to freely buy/sell/trade our digital assets.
The traditional Web2 username and password login has become antiquated, and they should note that Web3 wallets offer more security as long as users take the necessary precautions to protect their Web3 wallets. The simplest way to safeguard your Web3 wallet is to not interact with any links that you are not familiar with and do not share your Web3 seed phrase with anyone.
The Transition
After the snapshot mentioned above has been taken, they will need approximately 2 weeks in order to implement the changes and make the transition to a web3 login. If you have minted your PIX in a web3 wallet that you are no longer able to access, then the PIX is gone. It is impossible for Planet IX to transfer these lost NFTs — which showcases decentralization at its core. Web3 enables users to truly own their digital assets which gives the user free reign on how the assets are used but it also means the assets are not recoverable if the user loses access to their wallet.
Some important things to note post-transition:
All of your raffle tickets will be claimable on-chain. Estimated: June
All of your drones will be claimable on-chain. Estimated: May/June
All of your waste will be exchanged into a new waste token (more info to come)
All of your remaining pEUR will have to be spent by 13th of July. After this date pEUR will no longer be available to use. A pack drop with pEUR will be live 24/7 until this date.
